{I Do} love yellow and gray…

26 Jun

We finally got our yellow couches in today. A special thanks to my brother for hauling them up here! Here’s an update on our room with the ottoman (Sophie approves!):

{I Do} have a paint swatch confession…

14 Jun

Today we began painting the living room. I had to work late so I sent Chris to Home Depot to get new swatches since the grays we chose yesterday we didn’t like. I chose the new swatches on Behr.com…

I will say at first I was SHOCKED at how different the swatch was online to the actual paint/sample color. But here is the beginning of the new paint. Although it’s looking really white, I believe it will end up being the perfect backdrop to our “rustic” living room look.

{I Do}: Painting the Bedroom a Calming Gray!

14 Jun

I’m in love with the color we decided on. As you know, there was a lot of back and forth on exactly which color we’d go with. I had settled on a cool subtle gray about a week ago, but then I fell in love with this much darker color – which ironically was my first bedroom wall color choice about 2 months ago. I will admit, (yes Chris I’m admitting this), it’s a bit darker than I thought. But it looks awesome and will look even more awesome when I get furniture in the room and lighten up the decor with curtains and accents.

Sophie started to get tired, so she decided to nap while we finished painting…

The {I Do} Team Gets The Keys!

13 Jun

So today was the big day we’ve been waiting for. We settled on the house and started to get ready for the move on Saturday.

The day started with us finally letting Sophie into the back yard, she was stoked to say the least:

Then we began the painting and swatch sampling.

The living room:

And at first I liked the one on the right, and so did Chris.

But as the night went on all of the colors got greyer and cooler…

I’m really glad we tested the colors out in both daylight and night because we both vetoed all three colors. So back to Home Depot tomorrow.

Tomorrow I’ll unveil the color of the bedroom, I love what we chose!

{I Do}: ONE MONTH to Settlement!

14 May

Yesterday marked 30 days to settlement. Wowza! It’s starting to hit both Chris and myself now. Especially since we’re heading off to buy boxes and packing materials today.

On another note, I’ve been distracted by Pinterest lately. A few months ago I was sent an invitation to test out the beta version and honestly couldn’t get into it. But lately I’ve been obsessed and spending most of my “blog” time over there. I will start sharing all of my wonderful discoveries though so you can see where my creative thoughts have been.

While there, I finally decided on our bedroom color. We’re going with a cool gray. I now have to find this color somewhere, but it’s a start. And a month from today I’ll be elbow deep in paint buckets making it a reality!

More Gray Walls…

14 Apr

There really is no {I do} or {I don’t} with this post, it’s just…More gray wall inspiration. I definitely will look back on all of these photos and probably think I was a bit crazy. But as an artist, I see color in a specific way (not to say non-artists don’t). For example, my husband, a lawyer, looks at all of these colors and sees the same thing, I think warm vs. cool, blue vs. green, etc. So anyway, while going through my daily routine of decor blogs, I found these on DecorPad.com (LOVE that site).

So, what it comes down to, is what temperature gray works best in the bedroom, in a very seasonal climate, like DC.

The search continues!
